Can Microwaves cause Cancer?

How I found out

I never really gave much thought to microwaves until I stumbled across a television program entitled "What They don't want you to know". The program was ultimately promoting a book by Kevin Trudeau, revealing secret cures that apparently the Government does not want you to know about. I was so intrigued by the program, that I went out and purchased the book the next week. It is a very good read and very educational. I will tell you that the basis of it, is living like an Amish person does, furthering yourself from all electronic and non organic forms. As for me, I choose to enjoy some of the finer things in life and hope that I live a long, satisfying life. The reason I mention this book is because it has a fantastic chapter about the dangers of microwaves and what the Government has hidden from the public. Well, I shouldn't say hidden. They have just chosen not to promote the dangers of microwaves.

Realizing the danger

After I read about the dangers in this book, I had to know more, so I researched the topic via books and the internet. Needless to say, I went nearly two years without using a microwave, it scared me so badly.

Q & A

What is a microwave?

Microwaves are essentially a small wave of electromagnetic energy. They travel at the speed of light, carrying spectrums of power to and from one source to another. We generally know microwaves for our Microwave Ovens, but these same waves are used in telephones, televisions, satellites and computers. While there are debates that microwaves are also harmful to us while using our cell phones, we are addressing the Microwave Oven because we put that altered food into our bodies to digest.

How do they work?

Microwave Ovens have tubes that use electric and magnetic fields to produce micro-wavelength radiation that interacts with our food when it is heated. Unlike the normal heating source of the sun, Microwaves use a friction based heat. The difference is that the sun uses Direct Current, which means it is coming straight from a source. The Microwave uses Alternating Current, which causes friction to build up and heat our food.

Why is frictional heat bad?

To better explain frictional heat, microwaves are zipping back and forth at the speed of light. This friction builds up to cause heat, but in the process the waves being sent are transforming from a positive polarity to a negative polarity. This positive to negative polarity change in microwaves has the same effect on our foods. Foods are made up of molecules that have both a positive and negative end. When these microwaves heat our food using friction, it breaks apart these molecules and even deforms them. So essentially, we are putting deformed molecules into our bodies. Simply put, the microwaves are basically taking all the good things out of our food and transforming them to bad.

Where does radiation fit in?

Radiation is basically the spreading of energy with electromagnetic waves. Radiation happens when the neutrons or electrons of an atom are enhanced or decreased. Going back to when we were talking about microwaves changing from positive to negative polarity, those waves are changing the molecules of our food. This is the simplest form of radiation. In laymen's terms, we are putting radiated food into our bodies. All food that is heated by a microwave has been subject to radiation. A Microwave Oven is nothing more than a Radiation Machine.
Why do you think the Soviet Union banned Microwaves in 1976?

Scientific Proof

I can almost guarantee you that you will never hear anything bad about the Microwave Oven from the Government, unless they come out with a more profitable killer, but many studies have shown that Microwaves are not good for us. One particular study used 8 people to conduct an experiment of how microwaved foods altered different blood levels. The findings of the study confirmed that microwaves caused a decrease in the levels of Hemoglobin, which is what carries oxygen from our lungs to the rest of our body. Hemoglobin also carries a form of protein to our body at the same time. This finding alone shows us that microwaves can easily cause us to gain weight and be less energetic, but there is still more. The study also concluded that microwaves increase our cholesterol levels and decrease our Lymphocytes, which are cells in our immune system that help defend our body from illness and infection. The scariest of all in this study is the fact that the White Blood Cell count increased. White Blood Cells are also called Leukocytes. Increasing the white blood cell count can result in Leukocytosis. While Leukocytosis is generally the same thing as a fever, scientist have been conducting more studies to see if it can be connected to Leukemia. This increase in the white blood cells can cause stress and infection in bone marrow, causing a Leukemoid Reaction, which is what causes the fever. The reason that this scares me is because we have already stated that our Lymphocyte Levels (infection fighters) decrease. With all of this combined, it is easy to see that microwaves have no beneficial qualities.

Interesting hub. We stopped using a microwave at home after the last one died on us and also due to concerns over how good they actually were for us. I must say we haven't missed it one bit. Very good read. Thanks

So glad that I read this Fenixfan. I had no idea! I will reheat in my conventioal oven from now on, thanks

It's true. Microwaving foods with reduce the nutritional value. It's difficult to live without one though, in this "fast-paced" world!

I heard about this when they first came out but then it fade away. I thought they were better now with advanced technology. Will try to avaid the as much as possibe. Great hub...very informative.

Excellent!!! I never was on favor of microwaves, This is precious information I will share it among my friends hoping for the retirement of these artifacts. Thank you for taking the time to research about it.

Yes I very rarely use a microwave. I can't remember the last time I used one. I think it was to warm up some hot chocolate. I am against them to the point where I have adapted to eating cold pizza and loving it.

This makes me want to chunk my microwave out the window...I would have a hard time getting used to not using one though! They cook so fast compared to an oven, but I don't think the health risks areG worth using one. Great hub, thanks for the info!

The latest heating apparatus now marketed as "the kitchen laptop" incorporates rapidly reversing magnetic polarity to heat whatever is placed upon it. Resembles an electric hotplate.

Did not rush to buy one. I am sure these could be more dangerous than microwaves as nothing is enclosed.

I once read that the amount of radiation given off by a typical microwave, in a human lifetime, is about the equivalent of taking a round-trip to Europe from the states. NOW I am terrified! Considering I make the Europe-USA trip about once a year, I would say that microwaves don't scare me. Good hub though, voted UP :)
